![]() ![]() Power-ups aren't the only way to increase your attributes on the track. As we came up on enemies, the fist hit its mark and we made our moves with ease. As we took Tails - you'll be able to race as seven of Sonic's buds and foes in Zero Gravity - through a forest-locked course, the mutated fox picked up an attack and began swinging a giant fist on a rope from above his head. As you motor through the tracks, you'll grab a handful of different item boxes that increase your maximum speed, give you more rings, grant you devastating attacks and more. You'll use the left stick to point Sonic in the right direction, release square and watch him shoot off with a burst of extreme speed called Gravity Control. When you come into sharp turns with your gravity move, you can tilt your left stick to whatever side the track continues on, hold square and watch the hero stall in mid-air and give off the ring's trademark glow. ![]() Not only does it look like Neo's flight from the Matrix, it tosses cars in its wake. You're best bet is to hold down R1 and watch Sonic leap from his board, toss his hands to the side and fly forward at super-speed in a move called the Gravity Dive. So, let's say you're coming into a long straight away and some juice is in your gravity meter - it's fueled by pulling off trick jumps along the racetrack. How do these crazy moves work? Well, I'm glad you asked. With a handful of robots chasing you down - although they're just trying to outrace you and not kill you - you're charged with coming in first on the neon-filled cityscape track, collecting coins and using a neat-o gravity meter to pull off suped-up moves. The duo is joined by Knuckles on a simple mission to drop off the ring when a band of MeteorTech robots swarm the caravan and everyone breaks out their hoverboards in a dash to get away. Luckily, the impact of the mysterious ring happened right outside of Tails' house (or something) and he was able to get a hold of it. Of course, when trouble's afoot, you have to look to Sonic and Tails for help. This title's story mode opens up like most animal/hoverboard racing games tend to: a strange, metal ring has fallen from space and caused the MeteorTech robots to go crazy and begin attacking the earth. Not familiar with the Sonic Riders series? The games put you in the hoverboard-riding boots of Sonic and his friends and let you tackle a story for why you're racing - or just take on offline friends and AI in individual races. ![]()
